How to support Mother Nature through your beauty products-The Day Ahead

How to support Mother Nature through your beauty products

·
A beautiful day ahead for you and the environment.

How our actions impact the environment today, tomorrow and every day beyond is something we’re always thinking about here at The Day Ahead. It’s incredibly important to us to promote sustainability and be kind to the earth through our business practices.

One of the ways we do this is by packaging every single The Day Ahead order in recycled or recyclable material from the boxes to the labels, which are biodegradable and made in Australia with vegetable inks. In addition, our orders are delivered by verified carbon neutral delivery partners at no additional cost to you. And we’re committed to stocking brands with eco-friendly, sustainable and ethical practices.

And while Earth Day, which falls on April 22, may only be on the calendar once a year, we think every day should be Earth Day—supporting Mother Nature through our business and lives is a daily goal.

Many of our brands are similarly committed to promoting environmentally friendly practices and ensuring their beauty products are good for the skin and the earth. From donating to drought relief and tree-planting organisations to offering product refills and recyclable packaging, read on for how our brands promote environmental sustainability and in turn, how you’re supporting Mother Nature through your A-beauty choices.

Bondi Skin Co.: Sustainability is at the core of men’s skincare brand Bondi Skin Co. Every product is packaged in sustainable packaging, and the brand supports Australian farmer drought relief organisation Drought Angels.

Gracious Minds: Conscious sensitive skincare brand Gracious Minds gives back to the environment through their support of Australia’s national environmental organisation, the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF). The brand also features sustainable packaging including recyclable glass bottles and skincare lids made with Forest Stewardship Council Certified wood from sustainable and renewable resources.

Gracious Minds offers a recycling program for plastic pumps and labels. At the end of the product’s life, you can mail the labels and pumps to Gracious Minds, which then recycles them through global recycling company, TerraCycle.

Imbibe: Offering refills is an eco-friendly option to reduce the number of beauty bottles, jars and other product vessels ending up in landfill and Byron Bay-based ingestible and topical beauty brand Imbibe, provides a compostable refill option for its popular glow-giving Miracle Collagen and Vegan Collagen.

Refills are just one of the many sustainable practices Imbibe follows; they also founded the Make Beauty Better™ campaign to deliver clean, backed-by-science beauty and sustainable, zero-waste packaging. In line with this, the glass jar version of Imbibe’s Miracle Collagen doesn’t have a sticker on it, so the entire jar can be recycled.

LAND Essentials: Wellness brand LAND Essentials reduces packaging waste by offering a refill option for its hero product, Organic Lemon Juice Powder. The brand’s eco credentials extend further through its partnership with Western Australian-based not-for-profit Carbon Positive Australia (CPA). CPA raises money to plant trees and vegetation on degraded land and raise awareness of the impact of our carbon footprint. Over 365 days, Carbon Positive Australia will plant at least 625 trees on behalf of LAND Essentials.

Peggy Sue: Conscious self-care beauty brand Peggy Sue cares for Mother Nature in a variety of ways and aims to be as sustainable as possible. For instance, all Peggy Sue’s solid printed glass bottles are intended to be a one-off purchase and to be reused with Peggy Sue’s range of refills.

STUFF: Simple, effective men’s personal care brand, STUFF, keeps it simple both in terms of its products and its sustainability practices: all STUFF products are housed in bottles made from recycled plastics and are themselves recyclable.

Theseeke: Small-batch beauty brand Theseeke has a partnership with 501 charity One Tree Planted. Planting trees helps clean our air, filter our drinking water and provide a habitat to over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity.

We Are Feel Good Inc: Best-selling A-beauty sunscreen brand We Are Feel Good Inc not only makes sunscreen that feels good on your skin but is kind to the environment too. The company has partnered with Precious Plastic Margaret River and Precious Plastic Melbourne to recycle We Are Feel Good Inc bottles and lids. To participate, one you’ve squeezed every last drop of We Are Feel Good Inc. product from its bottle or tube, wash and dry the empty container and lid, and drop it off to a collection point (find the full instructions here).
