How beauty products can boost your meditation practice

·
Find your beauty bliss.

The wellness benefits of regularly meditating, whether for five minutes or 50, are wide ranging and well known. Taking time to slow down, refocus and centre yourself is known to help reduce stress, improve sleep, and according to Healthline, may even assist with decreasing blood pressure.

If you’ve never meditated before but are keen to, there are a host of meditation apps to get you started, like the ever-popular Calm, Headspace, Simple Habit, or The Mindfulness App, to name but a few. Or you can start by setting aside a few minutes a day for a moment of dedicated self-care. You’ll likely notice an increased feeling of calm and wellbeing almost immediately.

Whether you’re new to meditation or have a regular practice, consider adding a sensory or mood-boosting beauty product or ritual to your practice. This small addition may assist in elevating your practice and achieving deeper wellness benefits.

Ahead of World Meditation Day on May 21, read on for how beauty products can boost your meditation practice and help you find your bliss.

Scent

Even the smallest amount of scent can instantly change your mood. A spritz of a relaxing fragrance or dabbing a few drops of an essential oil-based perfume onto your pulse points can calm, soothe and set the mood for meditation. Look to fragrances and oil blends containing stress-relieving scents like lavender, bergamot, chamomile, neroli, rose, ylang-ylang, and clary sage.

Try: Peggy Sue Essential Oil Perfume Trio
Gracious Minds Noble Blaze Perfume
Theseeke Rose Cedarwood Lavender Essential Oil Perfume

Candles and room sprays

Create a soothing spa-like retreat by scenting your surrounds with a fragrant candle or beautiful room fragrance. Transport yourself and your meditation practice to a peaceful rainforest setting by lighting a Black Blaze Rainforest Sunlight Scented Candle and misting Black Blaze Rainforest Sunlight Interior Fragrance Spray around your space.

Or, turn off the lights and scent your space with the great outdoors by igniting a Fazeek Kakadu Plum and Bush Cucumber Wave Candle. The calming scent of native Australian botanicals combined with the gentle light of the candle provides a subdued environment to settle into your meditation practice.

Body care

There’s something exceptionally soothing about the ritual of massaging a nourishing, aromatic body cream followed by body oil onto your skin. Post-shower or right before bed take a moment of self-care to soothe your mind and calm your body. Select body products scented with your favourite fragrance or with relaxing essential oils like neroli, sandalwood and lavender.

Try: Ms Brown Neroli Body Lotion and Ms Brown Neroli Body Oil
Arithmos De-Stress Sandalwood Superfine Body Oil
Leif Lemon Myrtle Body Lotion

Body scrub

Standing under a steaming shower washing off the day is another meditative moment. Be present and focused on the task at hand as you thoroughly slough off the day with an aromatic body scrub and emerge from the shower with a clearer mind and smoother skin.

Try: Hunter Lab Pinot Grape Skin Body Scrub
Grown Alchemist Purifying Body Exfoliant: Pearl, Peppermint and Ylang Ylang
Three Warriors Tasmanian Sand Scrub

Face mist

Taking a moment to meditate during a hectic day in the office, studying or running errands may seem impossible, but with one handy beauty product you’ll easily be able to find your bliss throughout the day. A quick spritz of a calming face mist whenever you need to reset, calm your mind and recentre yourself will make you feel like you’ve just had a mini meditation session. As a bonus, your skin will look like it’s just had a mini facial—dewy, moisturised and glowing.

Try: Gracious Minds Beyond the Surface Hydration Enhancer Mist
Mukti Rose Blossom Hydrating Mist

Face mask

There’s no reason why you can’t take care of your skin while also taking care of your mind and body. Why not pop a glow-giving, moisturising or detoxifying face mask on while you meditate? Set your timer for however long you want to have your mask on and meditate while your mask is working its skincare magic.

Try: The Skills Detox Day Face Mask
Hunter Lab Charcoal Mud Mask
Gracious Minds Microflora Intense Hydration Face Mask

Facial tools

Crystals have long been associated with meditation and wellness. In the beauty realm, crystals are often incorporated into facials (read our guide on how to do an at-home facial, here) and are the key element in beauty tools like face rollers. Face rollers are a facial massage tool designed to improve circulation and assist in lymphatic drainage. Using a facial roller is a meditative part of any daily skincare routine. It’s calming for both the skin and the mind to gently sweep the roller around the face (find our guide to using face tools, here).

Try: Theseeke Rose Quartz Crystal Face Roller

Bathing beauty

By its very nature taking a bath is a form of meditation. It’s warm, relaxing and the ultimate way to relax. Elevate that meditative experience with a bathing beauty like Theseeke Calendula and Rose Botanical Salt Soak or Peggy Sue Superfood Bath Sessions. Here are our tips for how to have the most luxurious bath ever.
